## Meaning

To make you think of or remember something — either to bring a memory back on purpose, or because one thing reminds you of another. "The smell of bread calls to mind my grandmother's kitchen."

## Examples

- The painting's soft colours call to mind a quiet morning by the sea, before anyone else is awake.
- Her careful phrasing called to mind the diplomatic non-answers politicians give when they already know the truth but aren't ready to say it.
