## Meaning

To move slightly (sideways), in order to make room for someone; for example to move in a bed to make room for someone else to lie on, or to move sideways on a seat so as to allow someone room to sit and share that same seat.

## Examples

- Please hutch up so I can sit down on the bench.
- The bus was crowded, so I asked the passenger to hutch up so I could fit in the seat.
- She gently nudged her sleeping partner, asking him to hutch up to provide enough space for her to lie down beside him.
