## Meaning

The total value of a cryptocurrency, worked out as price multiplied by circulating supply.

## Examples

- Ethereum has the second-largest market cap.
- A coin's market cap, not its price per unit, shows how large the project really is.
- Comparing two tokens by price alone is misleading; only market cap — price times circulating supply — reveals their true relative size.
