## Meaning

You use 'there is' to say that something exists or is present somewhere. Use 'there is' for one thing, and 'there are' for more than one.

## Examples

- There is a book on the table.
- There is a small cafe around the corner that serves excellent coffee every morning.
- Although the situation seems hopeless, there is always a chance that things will improve if we remain patient and work together.
