## Definition

the study of things that are not alive, such as rocks or the weather. It is the opposite of biology, which studies living things.

For teachers: the branch of science concerned with non-living matter and physical processes. Often used in contrast to biology to describe the study of geology, meteorology, or physics.

- The course covers both biology and abiology.
- Students in the first year of the science program must complete a module on abiology to understand the physical laws of the universe.
