## Definition

a state of being very humble or defeated. It describes someone who feels completely powerless and has no pride left.

For teachers: a state of extreme humility, defeat, or lack of pride. Often used in literary or historical contexts to describe a person's physical or emotional posture.

## Examples

- The prisoner showed abjectedness when he knelt before the king.
- The defeated general's abjectedness was evident in his refusal to meet the eyes of his former soldiers.
