## Definition

to turn red in your face because you are embarrassed or shy. It is a more formal or literary way to describe this physical reaction.

For teachers: to become flushed with a reddish colour in the face, typically as a result of embarrassment, shyness, or anger. Intransitive; often used in literary or formal contexts.
