## Definition

the general area or the approximate time of something. You use this when you are not being very exact but want to give a general idea.

For teachers: the general vicinity or approximate time of an event. Often used in the plural to indicate a vague location or a rough estimate of a duration.

- I am looking for the house in the abouts of this street.
- The witness could not give an exact time of the accident, only that it happened in the abouts of midnight.
- The explorer spent several weeks in the abouts of the mountain range, mapping the terrain before attempting the final ascent to the summit.
