## Definition

the state of being so focused on something that you do not notice anything else. It describes a deep level of concentration.

For teachers: the state of being deeply engaged in an activity or thought to the exclusion of all else. Often used to describe a trance-like or intense level of focus.

## Examples

- Her absorbedness in the book made her miss the phone call.
- The scientist's absorbedness in the experiment lasted for hours, as he ignored the lunch break entirely.
- The artist's absorbedness in the canvas was so profound that the gallery visitors felt as though they were intruding on a private, sacred space.
