in a way that holds your attention completely. You use this to describe something that is so interesting or exciting that you cannot look away.

For teachers: in a manner that completely captures attention or interest. Often used to describe the quality of a narrative or performance that prevents the audience from being distracted.

## Examples

- The movie was absorbingly told and kept us all on the edge of our seats.
- The professor spoke absorbingly about the history of the city, making even the most complex theories seem simple.
- The novel is written with such absorbingly detailed descriptions of the setting that the reader feels as though they are physically present in the Victorian drawing room.
