## Definition

to make something smaller or more limited. It is an old word that people rarely use today, mostly in very formal or technical writing.

For teachers: to reduce in size, scope, or intensity; to limit or restrict. Archaic in modern general usage, though it persists in legal or technical contexts to describe the narrowing of a right or a claim.

## Examples

- The old law abstricted the rights of the citizens.
- The legal team argued that the new contract abstricted the previous agreement to a much smaller area of land.
- In the final version of the treaty, the negotiators abstricted the initial demands to a series of narrow, specific clauses that both parties could agree upon.
