## Definition

a type of rock that is very hard and made of tiny, flat pieces of minerals. It is often found in parts of Canada and is used to build strong roads and buildings.

For teachers: a fine-grained, metamorphic rock consisting of interlocking grains of quartz and feldspar. It is typically formed by the metamorphism of granite or granodiorite and is characterized by its hardness and durability.
