## Definition

a medical condition where a person cannot feel pain in a specific part of their body. It is the opposite of hypersensitivity.

For teachers: a condition characterized by the absence of the sense of pain in a particular area of the body. Often used in clinical contexts to describe a localized loss of nociception.

## Examples

- The patient was diagnosed with acatamathesia in his left arm.
- Doctors observed that the patient showed no reaction to heat or pinpricks on the affected limb, confirming a diagnosis of acatamathesia.
