## Definition

feeling very tired, weak, or overwhelmed. It is an old word that describes a state of being crushed by a heavy burden.

For teachers: overcome by a sense of physical or mental exhaustion; crushed or overwhelmed.

- The weary traveler looked accable after the long journey.
- After the heavy defeat, the general appeared accable, his shoulders slumped under the weight of his failure.
