## Definition

the quality of being willing to accept something as it is, without trying to change it or complain. It is a calm way of dealing with a situation you cannot control.

For teachers: the state or quality of being willing to receive or acknowledge something without resistance or complaint. Often implies a passive or resigned attitude toward a situation.

## Examples

- She showed a quiet acceptingness of the bad news.
- The community's acceptingness of the new changes helped the project move forward without any major protests.
- While some critics viewed the policy as a failure, the administration's acceptingness of the outcome allowed them to focus on more pressing legislative priorities for the remainder of the session.
