## Definition

willing to take or receive something. It is an old word that people used to describe being ready to say yes to an offer.

For teachers: willing to receive or take; disposed to accept.

## Examples

- He was very acceptive of the gift.
- The king was surprisingly acceptive of the peace terms, despite the initial protests from his advisors.
- In the early modern period, a courtier's acceptive nature was considered a virtue, as it demonstrated a willingness to embrace the shifting alliances of the royal court.
