## Definition

to have the same opinion as someone else or to think that a decision is right.

For teachers: to share a perspective or opinion with another party; can also describe the compatibility of food or climate with a person's health.

## Examples

- I totally agree with you about the movie.
- The committee members did not agree with the new proposal to increase the budget.
- While many historians agree with the general timeline of events, few can reach a consensus on the underlying causes of the conflict.

## Pitfalls

- Not "I am agree with you." but "I agree with you." — English uses 'agree' as a verb, so it does not need the verb 'to be' before it.

## Usage notes

- followed by a person, an idea, or a specific statement.
- Teaching tip: remind students that 'agree' is a verb, not an adjective; they should avoid saying 'I am agree'.
