## Definition

pleasant, nice, or easy to like. It can also describe someone who is willing to agree with a suggestion.

For teachers: pleasing to the mind or senses; also describes a person willing to agree or give consent. Often used to describe weather, surroundings, or a cooperative personality.

## Examples

- The weather today is very agreeable for a walk.
- We spent an agreeable afternoon wandering through the old town and visiting local shops.
- Finding the candidate to be both highly qualified and personally agreeable, the committee reached a unanimous decision to offer her the position immediately.

## Usage notes

- Often follows a linking verb like 'be', 'seem', or 'find'. When meaning 'willing', it often takes the preposition 'to'.
