## Definition

feeling no pain because of a special medicine given by a doctor. It is used to describe a person or a part of the body during a medical procedure.

For teachers: rendered insensible to pain or sensation through the administration of a medical agent. Typically describes a patient or a specific anatomical region during a surgical procedure.

## Examples

- The patient remained fully anesthetized during the entire surgery.
- The surgeon waited until the patient was completely anesthetized before beginning the delicate procedure on the hand.
- Once the subject was sufficiently anesthetized, the team proceeded with the operation, monitoring vital signs to ensure the depth of unconsciousness remained stable throughout the intervention.
