## Definition

you use this to say that something is true except for the one thing you just mentioned.

For teachers: a prepositional phrase used as a sentence adverbial to indicate an exception to a preceding statement or to transition between a specific detail and a general summary.

## Examples

- The room is small, but apart from that, it is perfect.
- I have a slight headache, but apart from that, I feel much better today.

## Pitfalls

- Not "Apart of that, the trip was great." but "Apart from that, the trip was great." — the fixed preposition is 'from'; 'apart of' is a common error likely influenced by 'as part of'.

- usually appears at the beginning of a sentence or after a conjunction like 'but' to introduce a contrast.
