## Definition

a way of styling hair by combing it toward your head instead of away from it. This makes the hair look thicker and creates more volume.

For teachers: the process of combing hair toward the scalp to create volume or provide a base for styling. Often used to provide structural support for updos.

## Examples

- She uses backcombing to make her thin hair look fuller.
- The stylist suggested backcombing the roots to ensure the veil stayed securely in place throughout the wedding ceremony.
