## Definition

to arrange for yourself or someone else to stay at a place like a hotel or a hospital.

For teachers: to register or reserve accommodation for oneself or another person at a specific establishment, typically a hotel, clinic, or hospital.

## Examples

- I need to book into the hotel before the meeting.
- The travel agent managed to book us into a lovely boutique hotel right in the city center.
- After the accident, the paramedics decided to book him into the local trauma center for further observation and testing.

## Pitfalls

- Not "I booked into of the hotel." but "I booked into the hotel." — the preposition 'into' is followed directly by the object without adding 'of'.

## Usage notes

- usually followed by a noun representing a place of accommodation or care.
- Teaching tip: contrast with 'check in', which refers to the physical arrival process; 'book into' focuses on the reservation or the act of being admitted.
