## Definition

a short way of saying 'critically ill'. It is used in hospitals to describe a patient who is very sick and needs constant care.

For teachers: a shortened form of 'critically ill', used in medical contexts to describe a patient in a severe or life-threatening condition.

## Examples

- The patient was moved to the ICU because he was crit.
- The nurse checked the monitors every few minutes because the patient was crit and required constant observation.
- While the initial diagnosis was concerning, the patient stabilized enough to be moved from crit status to a more general ward for further recovery.
