## Definition

to have a different opinion from someone else or to think that an idea is wrong.

For teachers: to hold a contrary opinion or to express disapproval of a specific belief, statement, or policy; often used to indicate that a particular food or climate causes physical discomfort.

## Examples

- I strongly disagree with your opinion on this movie.
- Many people disagree with the government's new plan to increase taxes on fuel.
- While some scholars disagree with the author's primary thesis, they generally acknowledge that his research methodology is sound.

## Pitfalls

- Not "I am disagree with you." but "I disagree with you." — disagree is a verb, so it does not need the verb 'to be' before it.

## Usage notes

- usually followed by a person, an idea, or a statement as the object.
- Teaching tip: remind students that 'disagree' is a verb, not an adjective; they should avoid saying 'I am disagree'.
