## Definition

to start doing something with a lot of energy and interest, without waiting.

For teachers: to begin an activity or task with enthusiasm and without hesitation; often implies a deep or thorough immersion into a subject or project.

## Examples

- Let's dive into the new project today.
- After a quick coffee, she sat down to dive into the pile of research papers on her desk.
- The documentary doesn't just skim the surface; it dives into the complex socio-economic factors that led to the city's sudden decline.

## Pitfalls

- Not "I want to dive into of the book." but "I want to dive into the book." — 'into' is a preposition that takes the object directly; do not add 'of' after it.

## Usage notes

- usually followed by a task, a topic, or a hobby as the object.
- Teaching tip: use the literal meaning of jumping into water to help students visualize the 'total immersion' and 'speed' of the figurative meaning.
