## Definition

the thing that requires the least amount of work or effort to do. You use this when comparing three or more options to find the one that is not difficult at all.

For teachers: the superlative form of 'easy', indicating the highest degree of simplicity or the lowest level of difficulty among three or more items.

## Examples

- This is the easiest way to get to the city center.
- Out of all the exams I took this semester, the history test was definitely the easiest.
- While several routes lead to the summit, the southern path is widely considered the easiest for novice climbers due to its gentle incline and well-marked trails.

## Pitfalls

- Not "the most easiest" but "the easiest" — One-syllable adjectives ending in 'y' form the superlative by changing 'y' to 'i' and adding '-est'; they do not use 'most'.

## Usage notes

- As a superlative adjective, it is almost always preceded by the definite article 'the'.
