## Definition

a very strong drug that is used to treat severe pain. It is much stronger than other common painkillers like morphine and can be very dangerous if not used correctly.

For teachers: a synthetic opioid analgesic significantly more potent than morphine, used primarily for the management of severe pain. Often associated with high risk of overdose and illicit use in the form of counterfeit pills or street drugs.
