## Definition

a member of a group of Indigenous people from North America who lived near the Great Lakes. Today, many people use the name Wyandot instead.

For teachers: a member of a confederacy of Iroquoian-speaking North American Indigenous people originally inhabiting the region around Lake Huron. Often replaced by the endonym Wyandot in contemporary academic and social contexts.
