## Definition

to start doing or saying something with a lot of energy or enthusiasm. You often use this when someone begins a long story or a strong complaint.

For teachers: to begin an activity, speech, or narrative with sudden energy or force. Typically takes a noun phrase or gerund as an object.

## Examples

- She launched into a long story about her trip.
- The manager launched into a passionate speech about the company's future goals.
- Without waiting for an introduction, the professor launched into a complex critique of the prevailing economic theories, leaving the audience momentarily stunned.

## Pitfalls

- Not "He launched the story" but "He launched into the story" — The verb requires the preposition 'into' to connect the action to the topic.
