## Definition

to start doing or talking about something new after you finish the previous part.

For teachers: to transition from one topic, task, or stage to the next in a sequence.

## Examples

- Let's move on to the next question.
- After discussing the budget, the manager moved on to the plans for the holiday party.
- Once the committee has finalized the minutes from the previous session, we shall move on to the more pressing matter of the proposed structural reforms.

## Pitfalls

- Not "We moved on the next topic." but "We moved on to the next topic." — the preposition 'to' is required to indicate the destination or new subject of the transition.

## Usage notes

- usually followed by a noun or a gerund representing the new topic or activity.
- Teaching tip: useful for classroom management and presentations to signal a transition between different lesson stages.
