## Definition

confused because something is difficult to understand or explain. You feel this way when you cannot find a clear answer to a problem.

For teachers: completely baffled or puzzled by something complex or unaccountable. Often used predicatively after linking verbs like 'feel', 'look', or 'remain'.

## Examples

- She had a perplexed look on her face.
- The scientists were perplexed by the sudden change in the data, as it contradicted all their previous findings.
- Even the most experienced detectives remained perplexed by the suspect's lack of a clear motive, given that he had no prior connection to the victim.
