## Definition

a sound you make to show you do not think something is important or true. It is a way to say 'no way' or 'that's not right' in a casual way.

For teachers: an interjection used to express dismissal, disbelief, or a lack of interest in a statement. Often used to indicate that the speaker considers the previous claim to be trivial or false.

## Examples

- Pfft, I don't believe that for a second.
- When he told me he had never seen a movie that old, I just said 'pfft' and rolled my eyes.
- The critic dismissed the film's technical flaws with a simple 'pfft', suggesting that the narrative's emotional depth was the only thing that mattered to the audience.
