## Definition

food or a gift that is offered to a god in Hinduism and then shared with people. It is seen as a blessing from the divine.

For teachers: a devotional offering of food or other items presented to a deity in Hinduism, subsequently distributed to the faithful as a sanctified blessing.

- The priest handed out sweet prasad to everyone after the ceremony.
- After the morning prayers were finished, the family gathered to share the prasad that had been offered at the altar.
