## Definition

the process of preparing a webpage or image before it is actually needed so it can be shown instantly. This makes websites feel much faster because the computer does the hard work in the background.

For teachers: the process of generating a static version of a webpage or digital asset in advance of a user request. Often used in web development to improve performance by serving pre-built content rather than generating it on the fly.
