## Definition

a very tall tree with reddish-brown wood that grows in the western United States. These trees are famous for being some of the oldest and largest living things on Earth.

For teachers: a massive coniferous tree belonging to the subfamily Sequoioideae, native to coastal California and southern Oregon. Characterised by its thick, fire-resistant bark and exceptional height.
