## Definition

the process of bringing someone back to life after they have stopped breathing or their heart has stopped. It is usually done by a doctor or a trained nurse.

For teachers: the restoration of life or consciousness to a person who has suffered cardiac arrest or respiratory failure. Often refers to the medical procedure involving artificial ventilation and chest compressions.
