## Definition

a digital list or map that a computer network uses to decide where to send data. It helps information find the best path to reach its destination.

For teachers: a data table stored in a router or a networked computer that lists the routes to particular network destinations. It contains information on network topology and metrics used to determine the most efficient path for data packets.
