## Definition

the way computers and software programs automatically find each other on a network. It allows different parts of a system to connect and work together without a person having to set them up manually.

For teachers: the process by which devices and software applications automatically detect and connect to available services on a network. It facilitates communication in distributed systems by allowing components to locate each other without hard-coded network addresses.
