## Definition

to quickly return to a previous state or mood after a difficult time.

For teachers: to recover quickly or rebound to an original condition after experiencing stress, pressure, or a setback. Often used to describe emotional resilience or physical elasticity.

## Examples

- The economy is starting to snap back after the crisis.
- Even after a long night of travel, she managed to snap back and was ready for the meeting by 8 a.m.
- The rubber industry relies on polymers that can snap back to their original dimensions after significant deformation.

## Usage notes

- often used with 'to' when mentioning the original state, or used alone to describe a general recovery.
- Teaching tip: contrast with 'recover' (which can be slow) to emphasize the speed and elasticity implied by 'snap'; it is helpful to use the physical image of a rubber band.
