## Definition

a casual way to say yes or you're welcome. You use it when you agree to help someone or want to show that something is no problem.

For teachers: expresses enthusiastic agreement or confirmation; functions as a formulaic response to a request or an expression of gratitude. Characteristic of North American English.

## Examples

- Can you help me move this table? Sure thing.
- Thanks for the lift to the station. Sure thing, I was heading that way anyway.

## Usage notes

- Used as a standalone response; can substitute for 'certainly' when agreeing to a task or 'you're welcome' when thanked.
