## Definition

to be full of something, especially people or animals that are moving around a lot.

For teachers: to be present in large numbers or to be overflowing with life and activity. Often used in the continuous form to describe a scene of busy movement.

## Examples

- The city streets are teaming with tourists this morning.
- After the heavy rain, the garden was teaming with insects and small birds looking for food.
- The coral reef was teaming with a diverse array of marine life, creating a vibrant underwater ecosystem that fascinated the researchers.

## Pitfalls

- Not "The room was teeming of people." but "The room was teeming with people." — Teeming requires the preposition 'with' to indicate what is present in large numbers.

## Usage notes

- Usually takes the preposition 'with' followed by the noun phrase representing the abundant items.
