## Definition

to enjoy or do very well in a situation that others might find difficult or stressful. You use this when someone loves a specific type of environment to succeed.

For teachers: to grow or develop well in a particular environment or situation, especially one that others might find challenging. Always takes a noun phrase as an object.

## Examples

- Some plants thrive on neglect.
- She thrives on the pressure of tight deadlines and complex projects.
