## Definition

a group of three books, movies, or plays that are connected by the same story or characters. You usually read or watch them in a specific order to understand the whole plot.

For teachers: a set of three related creative works, such as novels or films, that share a continuous narrative or common theme.

## Examples

- The final book in the trilogy comes out next month.
- After the success of the first film, the director announced he would turn the story into a trilogy.
- While the first installment was a critical darling, the middle chapter of the trilogy suffered from a lack of narrative momentum that was only resolved in the final act.
