## Definition

a small speaker that is designed to play only high-pitched sounds. You usually find these in high-quality headphones or speakers to make the sound clearer.

For teachers: a high-frequency loudspeaker driver designed to reproduce the upper range of the audio spectrum. Typically smaller in diameter than a midrange or woofer to ensure accurate reproduction of treble frequencies.

## Examples

- The tweeter makes the music sound much clearer.
- To improve the sound quality of the home theater system, the technician replaced the old tweeters with higher-quality models.
- In a multi-way speaker system, the tweeter is often mounted in a separate enclosure or baffle to prevent acoustic interference from the larger drivers that handle midrange and bass frequencies.
