## Definition

describing something that can be checked to see if it is true or real. You use this when you want to make sure a fact is correct by looking at evidence.

For teachers: capable of being confirmed or proved by evidence or investigation. Often used to describe data, claims, or facts that can be independently verified by a third party.

## Examples

- The company only hires people with verifiable work experience.
- The journalist asked for verifiable sources to support the claim that the building was unsafe.
- In scientific research, a hypothesis must be verifiable through repeatable experiments to be considered a valid theory within the academic community.
