## Definition

the other way around. You use this after a statement to show that the opposite of what you just said is also true.

For teachers: in reverse order from that previously stated. Used almost exclusively in the fixed phrase 'vice versa' to indicate that the relationship between two things is reciprocal.

## Examples

- I help him and vice versa.
- The teacher can learn from the students and vice versa, creating a more collaborative environment in the classroom.
- In a healthy ecosystem, the presence of certain predators ensures the health of the prey population and vice versa, maintaining a delicate biological equilibrium over many generations.

## Pitfalls

- Not "I like her and versa vice" but "I like her and vice versa" — The phrase is a fixed Latin loanword; the order of the two words cannot be changed.

- Almost always preceded by 'vice'. It functions as a sentence adverb that refers back to the preceding clause to imply its inversion.
