## Definition

Stands for what the fuck. An expression of total surprise, confusion, or anger. You use it when something happens that makes no sense to you.

For teachers: Abbreviation for what the fuck. An initialism expressing extreme surprise, disbelief, or frustration. Highly informal and vulgar in register; typically used as a standalone exclamation or to introduce a question.

## Examples

- WTF is going on with the internet?
- I just saw the final score of the game and honestly, WTF happened in the last five minutes?
- The developer stared at the screen in disbelief, muttering 'WTF' as the code that had worked perfectly yesterday now failed to compile for no apparent reason.

## Pitfalls

- Not "What the fuck of that?" but "What the fuck is that?" — When used as a question starter, it must be followed by a verb or a noun phrase, not a prepositional phrase starting with 'of'.

## Usage notes

- Used primarily in digital communication or casual speech; often functions as a more forceful version of 'what'.
