From the admission system used at Disneyland prior to 1982. The E ticket was the highest designation in a tiered system of coupons, required for entry to the most elaborate or technologically advanced attractions. While the physical vouchers were retired in 1982, the term persisted as a marker for experiences of particular intensity.
