Usage

Often used at the start of a clause to link two similar ideas or actions.

Teaching tip

Contrast with 'similarly' (a more formal single-word adverb) and 'likewise' (another formal linker).

Pitfall

He talks in same way as his father.He talks in the same way as his father.The definite article 'the' is a required part of this fixed phrase.
