Usage

usually follows the verbs 'be', 'keep', 'stay', or 'get'.

Teaching tip

contrast 'get in touch' (the act of starting communication) with 'be in touch' (the state of ongoing communication); 'sb' stands for 'somebody' and indicates a human object is required.

Pitfall

I am in touch to him.I am in touch with him.the preposition 'with' is required to connect the phrase to the person being contacted.
